The internet becomes the biggest advertising platform in the UK, beats TV and all the other media channels (check out this on the Guardian), this is a defining moment on internet marketing and the history of the net, the fact that a strong (or once strong) market like the UK is the first one to break this record is even more astonishing.

The implications are huge, earlier this month we have seen a record number of video hits on the net, this leads the way for the internet to be the leader in video usage, beating traditional TV at its own game.

As we watch this trend quickly take over the landscape we can not but wonder how will the future internet advertising work look, will the quality to ads on the net improve or will it become yet another billboard fighting grounds for the big brands, one thing is sure, bold and brave advertisers will be rewarded, and the eyes of the world are slowly turning away from the television screens – to the net.

OPPPSS, was too fast on the record breaking thing – The UK is not the first country where internet ad spend has overtaken TV spend, Denmark reached the milestone about six months ago. But it is the first major economy to do so.
