Checking out today’s hot trends on Google one can notice an interesting trend, not so new and not so surprising, the Internet is becoming the main tool for TV audiences to respond and speck their minds on what stars or politicians are doing.
Unlike the people of Wal Mart example we talked about 10 days ago, today’s trend is not an internet exclusive issue, the main talk of the day is the VMA awards and the scandals that follow it (and it seems there are a few of those). The main hot trend – Kanye West doing his thing on the live show.
A day after the VMA awards, the scandal continues with someone leaking (or inventing) the “story” that president Obama said something about the singer and his behavior, probably not true but very “spicy”. Check out the trends and that 4 out of the top 50 are directly about this topic (#20 is about it too).
VMA landed some heavy traffic
Now looks at the actual search terms related to this topic and you will find that many searches go full circle and try to get some media of the president saying that, in short it started on TV and it ends on TV (or radio maybe) but it passes a whole lot of juice to the internet.

Developing parallel story – Republican Joe Wilson did something that resembles Kayne West’s behavior in congress, it has made no mark on the search trends, but I have a feeling it will end up there too… keep your eyes open.
